Dr. Kwang-Sun Blair is an associate professor in the Department of Child and Family Studies, Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute. She earned her Ph.D. in emotional and behavioral disorders from the University of Arizona in 1996 and conducted post-doctoral research in 1997 with a specialty in functional assessment and intervention for young children with challenging behaviors in community settings. She served as an associate professor in the Department of Special Education at the Kongju National University, South Korea while serving as the director of the Graduate School of Special Education and clinical director for Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities prior to her appointment at the University of South Florida in 2006. Dr. Blair also served as the vice president for Korean Society for Early Childhood Special Education, editor for Korean Journal of Early childhood Special Education, Special Advisory Council to Minister of Education and Human Resources in Korea. Currently she serves as an editorial board member for several journals in the area of special education and early childhood special education in Korea and an invited guest reviewer for Journal of Early Intervention. Her research interests are functional assessment and intervention for young children with problem behavior, positive behavior support, family-based and community-based intervention, and early identification system development for at-risk young children. Dr. Blair authored two Korean textbooks (Introduction to Early Childhood Special Education, Developmental Therapy for Young Children with Special Needs), published numerous journal articles, and standardized a developmental screening instrument (Korean Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning-3). |
